Aims of the module:

Topics covered in the module include in particular:

  1. Theories and concepts of socio-ecological transformation in the Global North and South (green economy, de-growth, post-extractivism, post-development, etc.)
  2. Unequal power relations in the distribution of nature and natural resources (North/South, class, gender, ethnicity, etc.)
  3. Current socio-ecological conflicts in a globalized world and their link to economic, social, and political contexts

  • can differentiate theories and concepts of socio-ecological transformation
  • are able to link current socio-ecological conflicts to unequal power relations
  • can analyze concrete conflicts with adequate analytical framework
