LLM part-time

Program Design

All students must complete a total of 24 units (60 ECTS) including a master thesis.

The part-time LLM program consists of Core Block Weeks, Elective Block Weeks, and the Master Thesis Seminar.

The two Core Block Weeks and the Master Thesis Seminar are mandatory and must be completed by all students:

  • Core Block Week 1: European Internal Market Law and International Trade Law (4 units, 8 ECTS)
  • Core Block Week 2: European and International Competition Law (4 units, 8 ECTS)
  • Master Thesis Seminar incl. master thesis (4 units, 20 ECTS)

Further, all students shall also complete three Elective Block Weeks:

  • Elective Block Week 1: European and International Corporate Law (4 units, 8 ECTS)
  • Elective Block Week 2: European and International Intellectual Property Law (4 units, 8 ECTS)
  • Elective Block Week 3: International Business Dispute Resolution (4 units, 8 ECTS)

However, part-time LLM students have the option to replace one of the three Elective Block Weeks by writing two seminar papers (2 units - 4 ECTS each), if they wish to do that.

Each LLM Block Week comprises several courses and consists of 6 consecutive days of intensive all-day class work and training. An LLM Block Week typically starts Monday morning and ends Saturday evening.

Part-time LLM students can begin this part-time LLM program any time, if admitted, and with any LLM Block Week of their choice.

The academic design and the flexible block structure of this part-time LLM program allow part-time students to complete this LLM program in one single academic year (9 months).

Students can also opt to complete the part-time LLM program over a period of two academic years. In this case, the part-time students can freely schedule the sequence of the individual LLM Block Weeks, according to their individual and professional needs.

Part-time LLM students can graduate any time from this LLM program, after they have fulfilled all graduation requirements.
