Admission requirements

  • The minimum academic requirement for admission is a bachelor or other university degree equivalent to 180 ECTS as well as a professional experience of at least two years in a work area related to issues of sustainable development.

  • Persons need to prove at least five years of work experience in a relevant field if field of study was not related to issues of sustainable development.

  • Furthermore applicants are required to have an excellent command of English (Level C1).

Application

The application deadline for the summer term of 2018 will be on 31 January 2018.
All applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants have to attach copies of all documents listed below:

  1. Filled application form
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Letter of Motivation (1-2 pages)*
  4. Academic transcripts including final grades (all transcripts or translations thereof must be either in German or English)
  5. Copy of your High School Diploma, your University Diploma and proof of relevant work experience
  6. Copy of Passport
  7. Excerpt of a few pages of an English paper. This can be a research paper, scientific paper, policy document, publication, etc. (max. 10 pages)
  8. Proof of English language proficiency (in case of non-native speakers who did not graduate from an English language programme)

Language proficiency of one of the following English language tests:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    Minimum requirement of internet based test: 100
    Reading: 20
    Listening: 20
    Speaking: 20
    Writing: 20
  • IELTS (International English Testing System)
    Minimum requirement: 6.5

*Please note that the Letter of Motivation must address the following issues:

  1. Describe in detail your motivation to apply for the postgraduate Master Program.
  2. Explain in detail the potential contribution of the postgraduate Master Program to your future career?
  3. Describe what you personally understand by sustainable development, in which areas of sustainable development you already possess knowledge and competences, which areas of sustainable development you are particularly interested in to advance your knowledge during your studies in Vienna, and in how far you do think that the Master Program contribute to advance your knowledge about sustainable development?

Admission process

  1. Pre-selection after receiving your application according to eligibility.
  2. Invitation to a personal interview (via video chat if person is outside of Vienna), held between 2-3 weeks after submission of application
  3. Final selection between 2-3 weeks after submission of application
  4. Notification of Acceptance by Scientific Director
