Internship / Research Placement

In the third semester students have to undertake an internship at an intergovernmental or a non-governmental organisation active in the field of human rights or a research placement at one of our partner universities anywhere in the world.

Our students will be able to build on the content they were provided in the first two semesters and will have the chance to test your newly gained human rights skills in the professional environment. Ideally the internship will be connected to the topic of your Master thesis.

Finding a placement lies in the student’s responsibility. Where possible, the Vienna Master in Human Rights team will provide advice, guidance and contacts. Alumni who have graduated from our programme are happy to assist our students in finding the right placement. Internship guidance sessions are provided to support you in drafting CVs and applications.

Instead of an internship our students can also undertake academic research abroad.
