Canon Law for Lawyers

 

This university continuing education and training program is a specific canonical and practice-oriented program for lawyers who deal with the legal issues of ecclesiastical service.

Content and objectives:

The curriculum also focuses on comparisons of canon law, enabling cooperation with the Universities of Wales and Athens and the Instituto di Diritto Canonico e Religioso Comparato at the Facoltà di Teologia in Lugano.

Participants acquire knowledge of different areas of research, such as law of associations and constitutional law, administration of dioceses and parishes, matrimonial and criminal law and law of criminal procedure, ecumenical canon and ecclesiastical law, and sacramentals. In addition, they have to write a research paper on the representation of issues relating to canon and ecclesiastical law in mass media, as well as a master’s thesis.
