Graduation 2018

This year’s graduates formed part of a major jubilee on the occasion of celebrating the 10th Graduation Ceremony of Vienna‘s LL.M. International Legal Studies Program.
                                                           
In his Commencement Speech, Professor Boldizar Nagy from the Department of International Relations, Central European University, Budapest illustrated the history and philosophical connections to international relations in central Europe.

Mirjam Sieber, the best of the present graduating class, together with three former graduates contributed to this special event by sharing experience and outlooks with the audience.

The three Alumni speaking were:

  • Dr.iur Finnur Magnusson, LL.M.(´08), Partner/Attorney at JURIS law firm, and adjunct professor, University of Iceland.
  • Teresa Crockett, LL.M.(´15), First Secretary at Permanent Mission of Canada to the International Organizations in Vienna.
  • Samuel Winslow Mimnagh, LL.M.(´16), Junior Associate at Cerha Hempel Rechtsanwälte GmbH, Vienna.

In the presence of the entire teaching faculty of the LL.M. program, the LL.M. diplomas were handed to the students by Professor Reinisch, the director of the LL.M. Program in International Legal Studies. The graduates came from the following countries: Australia, Bhutan, Croatia, Eritrea, France, Germany, Peru, South Korea, and Pakistan.

After music by the University’s string quartet and the graduates singing the University anthem: "Gaudeamus igitur", Mirjam Sieber, as a freshly graduated student, extended her gratitude on behalf of the entire class of LL.M. students to the university and the faculty.

In his concluding remarks, Professor Reinisch stressed the high academic achievements of the 2018 LL.M. class and the organisational efforts offering study trips to the tribunals at The Hague, the numerous international organizations in Vienna, as well as Geneva. In addition, he expressed his hope that this rich program which also offers lunch time lectures with high-profile speakers on a monthly basis, will attract many future LL.M. students.

The LL.M. celebrations continued with a dinner and a hike through the Vienna Woods the following day with many LL.M. alumni who had travelled to Vienna especially for this occasion.
