The newest developments of the digital age have a strong influence on libraries as service institutions. This certificate course particularly aims at imparting knowledge that is essential for management activities at libraries.

It focuses, among others, on management styles and behaviour, instruments of leadership, change management, human resources development, organizational development, strategic resource planning, innovation management, methods of quality and knowledge management, controlling and legal aspects.

Graduates of the certificate course in Library Leadership and Management have the necessary knowledge and legal background to support employees or teams with their tasks as well as possible, assess realistic scenarios of future developments in their organizational units and evaluate their feasibility in view of the given framework conditions. In addition, participants develop awareness of the economic significance of quality assurance, controlling and reporting and are able to develop standards for their own working environment on this basis.
