On June 2, 2025, a special panel discussion marked the 30th anniversary of Austria’s EU accession. We welcomed former diplomat Mag. Michael Reinprecht and Prof. Christoph Reinprecht, academic director of the “European Studies” program, for an evening of reflection and debate.
Michael Reinprecht offered a first-hand look at the complex and eventful accession negotiations, culminating in an agreement on February 28, 1994. The discussion also addressed current challenges facing the EU, including geopolitical tensions, societal divisions, and Austria’s position as a neutral state.
