Psychotherapy at the University of Vienna

As a pioneer in Austria, the University of Vienna offers entire psychotherapy education leading to an academic degree at a public university.  The first step can be completed in the form of the preparatory course in psychotherapy (Propädeutikum) as well as in the form of the new bachelor program in Foundations of Psychotherapy. In cooperation with established educational institutions, the subject-specific offer covers the four clusters of psychotherapy (psychodynamic, humanistic, systemic and behavioural therapy (new from the winter semester of 2024/2025)). In addition to the already existing psychotherapeutic specializations at the University of Vienna, further offers are being developed.

The aim of the psychotherapy education at the University of Vienna is to interlace the psychotherapeutic practical orientation with scientific quality and expertise.  As a public university, the University of Vienna contributes to making psychotherapy education in Austria more academic.
