Philosophical Practice

The university continuing education and training program in Philosophical Practice offers the first and only academic education and training in philosophical practice in the German-speaking area. “Philosophical Practice” is a postgraduate continuing education and training program that builds on existing knowledge in philosophy: A completed degree program in Philosophy is a prerequisite for participation. The curriculum of the program combines advanced courses on theoretical principles with supervised exercises in philosophical practice, and it includes the implementation of a practical project in philosophy.

The university continuing education and training program mainly targets people with a Philosophy degree, who would like to use their knowledge and competencies to work outside of the scholarly world of work. It is also suitable for people working in consulting professions who have a basic knowledge of philosophy and would like to deepen their work in a philosophical-practical way.

We are particularly keen to enable anyone who is interested and motivated to participate, even those who have a demanding professional and family life and/or do not live in Vienna and the surrounding area. This is the reason why classroom training usually takes place on long weekends once a month and one week in the summer.
